ESTATE SAUVIGNON BLANC

PESTONI RANCH

RUTHERFORD

2014 NAPA VALLEY

Vineyard Notes:

Located on the western side of the valley floor in Rutherford, the Pestoni Ranch was planted by Henry and Lena Pestoni in 1923. Today, this same vineyard is planted with Sauvignon Blanc Musque and 317 Clones. This vineyard produces grapes with wonderful fruit intensity, ideal acidity and attractive mineral character which represent the true characteristics of the varietal.

Winemaker´s Notes:

On the nose, our 2014 Sauvignon Blanc shows aromas of white guava, pineapple and nectarine, as well as citrus notes that add freshness to the aromatic profile.
The sur lie technique provides this wine with a beautiful mouthfeel and texture. Well balanced with vibrant acidity, on the palate this wine shows flavors of melon, grape fruit, lemon curd, and ripe stone fruit, finishing with hints of minerality and ripe tropical fruits.

PESTONI FAMILY ROSÉ

2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé

Napa Valley

Vineyard Notes:

From Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on both our Howell Mountain Three Tears Vineyard and our Rutherford Lone Acre Vineyard, our Rosé is made in the saignée method by "bleeding" juice from tanks prior to fermentation. The juice is inoculated and fermented to dryness in small oak barrels. Prior to bottling, the wine received minimal filtration and fining to prserve the fresh fruit flavors these vineyards are known for.

Winemaker´s Notes:

This dry Rosé is crisp and fragrant featuring fresh strawberry, with hints of toast, and hibiscus aromas. Flavors of strawberry, juicy blood orange, and sweet cherry marmalade fill the palate leading to a lenghty finish. With its dry finish and balanced acidity, this Rosé is perfectly suited for al fresco dining and lighter fare.

1892 FIELD BLEND

2012 Lake County

Vineyard Notes:

Quackenbush Mountain Vineyard sits at an altitude of 2,000 feet on a rocky slope overlooking the eastern shore of Clear Lake. With its ideal red clay and fractured basalt, this location benefits from the cool lake breezes. This slows the ripening process, allowing the fruit to reach the balance and intensity we look for in a mountain wine.

Our vines, all heirloom selections of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, are planted with budwood gathered from some of the old existing plantings in California. Our grandfather, Albino Pestoni, and great uncles made their robust wines with these types of grapes under similar conditions... one of the blocks even originates from Uncle Fred’s old ranch.

Winemaker´s Notes:

This delicious blend is made of predominately Zinfandel, which gives the wine a base of ripe raspberry and pomegranate flavors. The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon brings out flavors of dark cherry, fig, and espresso. The Petite Sirah completes this blend by bringing texture and density to the wine, while maintaining a perfect balance of acidity and spice.

PETITE SIRAH

SPRING CREEK VINEYARD, ST. HELENA

2008 NAPA VALLEY

GOAT RIDER EDITION

Vineyard Notes:

Our 2008 vintage of Petite Sirah was made in much the same style as the previous four vintages producing a luscious, fruit forward, delicious wine from Spring Creek Vineyard, located in the St. Helena appellation.

The vineyard is on the west side of the Valley floor and benefits from copious direct sunlight during the growing season as well as cool breezes in the afternoon, a perfect situation for Petite Sirah.

Special edition honoring Henry Pestoni, c. 1920.

Winemaker´s Notes:

The 2008 Petite Sirah exhibits the typical deep black and purple hues that, amazingly, comes from only 10 days of skin contact.  10 months of oak aging contribute rich aromas and flavors of toasty vanilla that are well balanced with the characteristic plum,  boysenberry and hints of roasted game. The entry is rich and concentrated, the structure and weight are big but the finish is silky and very approachable early on for this varietal.

ESTATE SANGIOVESE

RUTHERFORD GROVE VINEYARD

RUTHERFORD

2011 NAPA VALLEY

Vineyard Notes:

This extraordinary wine started out as an experiment but has now become an institution. When we went to plant this vineyard in front of our winery we noticed that the soil held some truly unique properties, properties that we felt might be well suited for a Sangiovese.  We chose clones 2 and 4 and waited….On our first tasting we knew we were right.  The “Rutherford dust” had worked its magic on this Italian varietal.

What small amount isn’t snapped up by our wine club is made available only here and in our tasting room.

Winemaker´s Notes:

This attractive wine displays a nose full of violet, black cherry and ripe plums.  It has an appealing hint of black licorice and toasty vanilla that balance the dark, fruity nose.

Sweet blackberry, vanilla and baked cherries dominate in the mouth.  The wine is brightly concentrated, dense and full.  Wonderful drinking wine to pair with food or to drink alone.

DOMINGOS BROTHERS

THREE TEARS VINEYARD

HOWELL MOUNTAIN

2012 NAPA VALLEY

Vineyard Notes:

2012 was an ideal growing season on Howell Mountain. A mild spring led to a good fruit set,  followed by summer and fall seasons that brought warm temperatures free of heat waves. The fruit enjoyed a long, slow ripening, indicating early that the wine produced would be dark, rich and age worthy.

Winemaker´s Notes:

Our 2012 Domingos Brothers Red is a Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes crafted from select blocks of our Three Tears Vineyard on the Eastern slope of Howell Mountain. With elevation that ranges from 1,600 to 2,400 feet above sea level, the well-drained red volcanic soils of this vineyard produced a wine with color that is deep ruby bordering on purplish, with sweet fruit layers of plum, black cherry and raspberry on the nose. On the palate, this wine is supple and round, with balanced tannins and flavors of sweet red berries, tobacco, licorice and cedar. The finish is elegantly complex and refined and is meant to be enjoyed young, but will continue to develop in the bottle through the next decade.
